Website analytics
We use Google Analytics to understand how visitors find and use the website. This may collect information such as pages viewed, approximate location, device and browser information, referring source, and interactions with features such as search, sharing, question submission and donation links. Google Analytics uses cookies and similar identifiers for this purpose.
When PayFast verifies a successful donation, the website sends Google Analytics the donation amount, currency, donation frequency and a transaction reference. Donor names, email addresses, card details and banking information are not sent to Google Analytics.
Donations and payment processing
Donations are processed by PayFast. PayFast handles payment-card and banking details under its own privacy terms. The Department retains the donation reference, amount, payment status and any name or email address the donor chooses to provide for administration and record-keeping.
Questions submitted for guidance
Information submitted through the question form is used by authorised Department personnel to review and respond to the enquiry. Submissions are private and are not published as fatwas unless they are separately prepared, reviewed and approved for publication without inappropriate personal information.
Your choices
You may block or remove analytics cookies through your browser settings. Doing so does not prevent access to the published fatwas. You may also contact the Department to ask about information you have provided through this website.
